NOTES FROM DAVID FREDERICK Sr. REGARDING THIS RECORDING AND PERFORMANCE

"I had the idea to put together a few ARP musicians and do a musical presentation of ARP synthesizers to show the music industry and the world that synthesizers were not just for the recording studio or colleges, but can be used as a real musical instrument that could be played live. More importantly, show that synthesizers can be used for more than just lead or strange sounds.

It was quite a musical performance and technological feat considering that at that time, synthesizers could only play one note (monophonic) at a time so we had to arrange our keyboards so that we could use one finger on one keyboard and the other finger on another keyboard just below the top keyboard. Using two hands for each of us was quite a challenge. Mike Brigida used his welding skills to make custom synthesizer racks to accomplish this feat.

I used two Pro Soloists, one 2600, 2 Odyssey's, an Axxe, and the String Ensemble. Mike Brigida used 2 Pro Soloists, Axxe, 2 Odyssey's, 1 2600, String Ensemble, and a Phaser effect foot pedal. Tom Piggott used a 2600, Axxe, Odyssey, and String Ensemble running through an Axxe and  Phaser foot pedal.

All in all, we had a total of 18 Synthesizers! As you can probably imagine, setting all the synths up, making sure everyone was in tune, dialing up patches on the fly and playing harmonies and chords using multiple monophonic synthesizers in a live performance were challenging to say the least. It was a musical feat that brought the house down and blew everyone away. It was the first time the world got to hear synthesizers played LIVE as musical instruments and not experimental noisemakers!

I hope you enjoy this recording as it is one of a kind! Truly history was made that night."
